What the calculator does
We built a salary calculator that computes net pay with the 2026 tax tables: municipal tax, state income tax, TyEL pension, unemployment insurance, the daily allowance contribution and the Yle tax, each itemised on its own line. Results appear in under a second, and no registration is needed.
- All 292 municipalities: each with its own tax rate from the Veronmaksajat 2026 report.
- A 2025 ↔ 2026 year toggle: the user sees directly what the tax reform changed in their own pay.
- Reverse calculation: "I want 3 000 € in hand, how much gross do I need?" computes instantly.
- PDF download: the calculation saves as a one-page file for sharing or archiving.
A page of its own for every one of Finland's 292 municipalities
The site has 622 static pages: one per municipality in Finnish and in English, plus 26 salary-amount pages for the most common figures, from 2 000 € to 7 000 €, with contextual data such as the median, the percentile position and the marginal tax rate. Every page also shows a three-municipality comparison: the cheapest, Helsinki and the most expensive. The tax maths was verified against vero.fi's official calculator for five reference municipalities, with a difference of under 50 euros a year in every case.
What changed after launch
The site is verified in Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, and 618 URLs are submitted to the search engines right after each update. The site also serves /llms.txt, so ChatGPT, Perplexity and Claude can cite Finnish tax figures straight from this site, not from a newspaper table or a tax form.
A Finn now finds out in a minute how much of their salary they take home, with their own municipality's real tax rates, without registering, in Finnish or English.
